The Medowie Sports and Community Facility

A new sport and community centre for Medowie had been in the pipeline for many years.  In 2018, Port Stephens Council called open tenders for the construction of a new facility on vacant land in Ferodale Road, Medowie.  The work included a substantial civil works component, involving improvement to the ground conditions in order to support the building, substantial drainage works, and road re-construction.  Graph was successful with this tender, and the civil works got underway in February 2019.

The centrepiece of the project is the 870m² new building, with a striking roof-line, and extensive glazing.  Internally, the building incorporates a number of adaptable function/meeting rooms, and an extensive lounge area, all serviced by a commercial kitchen, storage spaces, and public amenities.  The facilities are to be used by a host of community, seniors, social and sporting groups.

The project progressed very well, with our civil subcontractor, KCE Pty Ltd, delivering an excellent performance.  The project was completed in October 2019, well ahead of due date of early 2020.

The facility is a significant one for the community, strengthening local relationships and establishing a first-class centrally located community hub.
